2010 Gilmore Artist Kirill Gerstein performed “An Evening With Kirill Gerstein: Rhapsody in Blue” at the Berklee College of Music on Friday, March 30.
He began by interspersing GyÃ¶rgy Ligetiâ€™s Ã‰tudes Nos. 4 (â€œFanfaresâ€™â€™) and 5 (â€œArc-en-cielâ€™â€™) with two selections from Earl Wildâ€™s â€œSeven Virtuoso Ã‰tudes After Gershwin,â€™â€™ â€œSomebody Loves Meâ€™â€™ and â€œIâ€™ve Got Rhythm,â€™â€™ playing the quartet without a break, as if they were the four movements of a single piece.
Student enjoy a week-long camp devoted to piano study and music making.
