Classical Awards Advisory Committee
The Gilmore Artist Award and Gilmore Young Artist Award recipients are chosen by an anonymous Classical Awards Advisory Committee appointed every four years by the Executive and Artistic Director of The Gilmore. Recent Committees have included the following individuals, whose identities are revealed after the Awards have been announced. The Gilmore is very grateful for their efforts.
2024 Gilmore Artist; 2022 and 2024 Gilmore Young Artists
- Elizabeth Ostrow, Committee Chair – Artistic planning consultant and recording producer
- Wolfgang Fink – consultant, lecturer, and author, former Intendant at the Bamberg Symphonic Orchestra, and senior leadership roles at the Strasbourg Philharmonic and Sydney Symphony Orchestras
- Gary Hanson – Former Executive Director of the Cleveland Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra
- Kathy Shuman – Vice President and Artistic Director, Caramoor Center for Music and Arts
- Paul Schenly – Artistic Director and Founder of PianoFest in the Hamptons, Artistic Director of the Cleveland International Piano Competition, and formerly Chair of Piano Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music
- Howard Watkins – Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera, faculty at The Julliard School
