Misha Galant’s performance at a reception held at Steinway Hall in New York on October 2, 2019 to announce his selection as a 2020 Gilmore Young Artist. A highlight of the program will be Rachmaninoff’s Etudes-Tableaux, Op. 39, Nos. 4, 5, and 9. The composer premiered all nine etudes of Op. 39 in St. Petersburg in February 1917; shortly afterward he left Russia – at age 44 – to establish a new life. He never returned.
