A CINEMATIC PRELUDE TO THE 2024 GILMORE PIANO FESTIVAL
Screenings daily from January 19 – 25

Kalamazoo-area audiences can see 2002 Gilmore Artist Piotr Anderszewski’s 2009 documentary Voyageur Intranquille (The Unquiet Traveller) on the big screen.

Famous for fleeing the stage of the Leeds Competition in 1990 because he felt he didn’t deserve to be there, pianist Piotr Anderszewski provides an eccentric subject for an eccentric filmmaker, Bruno Monsaingeon. Following Anderszewski as he travels from Poland to Hungary by train with his grand piano in tow, the film spotlights the musical musings of a brilliant artist, punctuated by Anderszewski’s personal reflections and a musical repertoire that includes Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann and Szymanowski.
