Battle Creek Community Piano Lab

The Battle Creek Community Piano Lab is now located at the Art & Culture Collective space within the First Congregational Church of Battle Creek, located at 145 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI. Small-group piano lessons for children and adults are available at a variety of musical levels.

Schedules are created based on teacher and student availability and meet once per week for 45 minutes. Click on the link below to register. You will be contacted by The Gilmore when your registration is complete to confirm your schedule and answer any questions you may have.

Dates

Fall 15-week session dates:  September 11 to December 22, 2023

Spring 15-week session dates:  January 15 to May 3, 2024
(there will be no classes during Spring Break: March 25-29, 2024)

Summer 6-week session dates: June 10 to July 26, 2024
(there will be no classes during July 1-5, 2024)

Registration

Cost per 15-week session:
Student (18 and under) – $150 or $300 for Fall and Spring
Adult – $200 or $400 for Fall and Spring

Cost per 6 week session: $95

Group Piano Lab Classes for Youth (Elementary-High School):

Beginner
The Beginner class is for elementary students that are new to piano or have taken our pre-reading class.
This class uses the Primer and Level 1 Faber Lesson books to teach students how to read music, basic rhythms, and more.

Early Intermediate
The Early Intermediate class is for students who have completed our Beginner class or are at a similar level.
This class uses the Level 2a and Level 2b Faber Lesson books to teach students about beginning chords, use of the damper pedal, and key signatures.

Intermediate
The Intermediate class is for students who have completed our Early Intermediate class or are at a similar level.
This class uses the Level 3a and Level 3b Faber Lesson books to teach students about minor scales, triplets and sixteenth notes, and complex time signatures.

Advanced
The Advanced level is for students who have completed all other classes or are at a similar level.
This class uses the Level 4 and Level 5 Faber Lesson books to teach students about the circle of 5ths, style, and musicality.

Adult Beginner
This class is for Adults with minimal to no prior experience.
This class uses the Faber Adult Lesson Book Series to teach students basic musical concepts, and how to read music.

Adult Continuing
This class is for Adults with prior piano experience.
This class uses the Faber Adult Lesson Book Series to help students build their current skills and study technique and artistry in depth.

Keys2Kids Keyboard Lending Program

Through the generous support of our education sponsors, we are able to loan keyboards to families that do not currently have access to an instrument. Details on how to borrow a keyboard will be sent after registration is complete. The Keys2Kids keyboard lending program is free of charge to class registrants.
