George Li (2012)
At just 16, pianist George Li has already been the recipient of multiple awards. In addition to being named a 2012 Gilmore Young Artist, Li won the 2010 Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York and five prizes within that competition. Also in 2010, he won the inaugural Cooper International Competition.
Li performed at a White House State Dinner in early June, and later this year he will make his New York debut at Merkin Hall and his debut at Washington’s Kennedy Center, in addition to other appearances. An avid fan of chamber music, Li is a member of the New England Conservatory’s Vivace Trio, which has performed on NPR’s From the Top as well as at the Senate Office Building in Washington D.C.
Li attends Walnut Hill School and studies at the New England Conservatory with Wha Kyung Byun (also the teacher of 2010 GIlmore Young Artist Charlie Albright!).
