Lori Sims was the first local artist to be featured at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival (2000) and her Alice Tully Hall debut (2000) met with critical acclaim from the New York Times. She returned to Carnegie Hall in May 2011 in a tribute to pianist William Masselos.
Sims received the first prize gold medal at the 1998 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, and has performed throughout America, Europe and China. Her teachers have included Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, and Arie Vardi.
Currently the John T. Bernhard Professor of Music at Western Michigan University, Sims teaches piano and lectures in accompanying and keyboard literature. During the summer, she is an artist-teacher at the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina and the Internationale Konzertarbeitswochen in Goslar, Germany.
Sims will conduct a Master Class on Wednesday, May 9 at 9:30 AM at the Dalton Center Recital Hall on the campus of Western Michigan University.
