Rising Star | Janice Carissa, 2022 Gilmore Young Artist
2022 Gilmore Young Artist Janice Carissa began studying with her pianist mother at age five, made her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at 16, and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. She is pursuing a master’s degree at The Juilliard School with Robert McDonald and has a busy performance schedule. Ms. Carissa is a featured soloist this year with Sacramento Philharmonic, Promusica Chamber Orchestra, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and the Tacoma and Battle Creek symphonies, and will play the Vinius Festival in November. For The Gilmore, Ms. Carissa will be playing selections by composers including Busoni, Liszt, and Scriabin, along with the world premiere of a commission by Carl Vine made possible with her Gilmore Young Artist Award.
