When the day’s last Festival concert ends, Gilmore After Dark begins–Kalamazoo invites you to step out and make an evening of it! Enjoy relaxed musical events featuring Gilmore Festival Fellows, WMU Jazz Faculty, graduates, and students, as well as treasured local talents who are a part of our vibrant music scene here in Kalamazoo, throughout the great state of Michigan, and beyond.

Mr. Radar, Kalamazoo’s premier organ trio, formed in June of 2025 after Doug Decker (organ), Adam Danis (drums), Jarad Selner (saxophones, guitar) and met while working as audio engineers for Gilmore Piano Festival events. Kalamazoo cocktail bar Stamped Robin agreed to house Decker’s vintage Hammond B-3 organ on an ongoing basis, giving rise to a standing Monday night gig for Mr. Radar.  Their eclectic mix of electrified jazz and groove-driven, funky blues draws a diverse crowd.

Decker studied theory and piano at Berklee with pianist and film composer Larry Dominello, subsequently focusing Hammond organ with mentor Jack McDuff, one of the pillars of jazz and funk organ. He performed and taught for many years in Japan and Hawaii, returning to Kalamazoo to work with John Stites at Arcadia Recording. Selner began playing studied saxophone with Shawn “Thunder” Wallace and John Gist. He currently plays with Great Lakes Brass, among others. Danis is a Kalamazoo-based drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer with an active touring recording and touring career. His distinctive and nuanced style combines elements of jazz, world-music, funk, and rock.
