2010 Gilmore Artist Kirill Gerstein displays a masterful technique, discerning intelligence, and a musical curiosity that has led him to explore repertoire spanning centuries and styles. A local audience favorite, he has proven to be one of today’s most intriguing and versatile musicians.

Prior to his solo recital at the Dalton Center on May 4, Gerstein will take advantage of the intimate setting of Wellspring Theater to perform several works by composers who wrote pieces in response to the World Wars, including an unusual work by Nazi concentration camp victim Viktor Ullmann for narrator and solo piano.

The performance features D. Terry Williams as the narrator.

A pre-concert talk by Zaide Pixley, Kalamazoo College (retired), will be held at the Judy K. Jolliffe Theatre at 1:00 PM (free for ticketholders).
