A Celebration of Piano and Strings
Musicians from the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra
Julian Kuerti, conductor
Marcelo Lehninger, conductor
Michael Brown, piano
Lori Sims, piano
Charley Lea, trumpet
A concert of celebration! This evening’s program continues the tradition of collaboration between musicians from the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra during the Gilmore Keyboard Festival. Festival favorite Lori Sims returns; Michael Brown premieres his own piano concerto, a Beethoven-inspired work written to celebrate the composer’s 250th birthday; and the ensemble performs Shostakovich’s rollicking and wild Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and Strings.
A pre-concert talk will take place at 6:30 PM
