When the day’s last Festival concert ends, Gilmore After Dark begins–Kalamazoo invites you to step out and make an evening of it! Enjoy relaxed musical events featuring Gilmore Festival Fellows, WMU Jazz Faculty, graduates, and students, as well as treasured local talents who are a part of our vibrant music scene here in Kalamazoo, throughout the great state of Michigan, and beyond.

Andrew Rathbun is a Toronto-born artist known for his depth of lyricism, authoritative swing, and compositional intelligence on tenor and soprano saxophones. He has recorded as a leader since the late 1990s with ensembles featuring artists such as Kenny Wheeler, Billy Hart, George Garzone, Bill Stewart, and Phil Markowitz. His music is rooted in post-bop jazz and informed by classical composition. Rathbun holds a Doctorate in Jazz Arts from the Manhattan School of Music and is Professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at Western Michigan University, while continuing to perform in New York and internationally.
