Two Important Artists to Perform in Kalamazoo
March 17, 2017
We would like to take the opportunity to highlight two upcoming recitals by pianists who are longtime friends of the Gilmore Keyboard Festival.
Christopher Taylor
“Frighteningly talented.” – The New York Times
Christopher Taylor, the recipient of the 1991 Gilmore Young Artist Award and frequent performer at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, will be giving a free recital at the Dalton Center on Sunday, March 19 at 7:30 PM. He will be performing a progressive and traditional program of music by “American Icons,” including John Adams, and the 24 Preludes of Chopin.
Lori Sims
“The technique is big and powerful…but capable of considerable delicacy as well.” – The New York Times
Esteemed Kalamazoo pianist, regular Festival performer, and resident artist and teacher at Western Michigan University, Lori Sim, will also be hosting a free recital at the Dalton Center on Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 PM. The occasion coincides with her 50th birthday and will feature beloved works by Beethoven and Schuman. Cake will be served!
We wish both artists successful performances, and we hope to see you there. Dalton Center events can be found here.
