To help you get to know these rising stars before they perform, we sat down with each of them for a Q&A about their music, inspirations, and more. You’ll notice that one artist keeps it brief—adding a touch of levity by design—while the other offers more detail. Together, their responses perfectly reflect the unique energy each brings to the stage.

If you’d like to attend both concerts, use code 25RSWKND at checkout to receive 15% off your tickets.

Who are you listening to right now?

LUTHER: Mostly singers – Nancy Wilson, Blossom Dearie, Dakota Staton, and each of their records that they co-led with George Shearing.  I have also been listening to Isaiah Thompson’s latest record “The Book of Isaiah: Modern Jazz Ministry”, “One” by Jordan G. Welch, Benjamin Britten’s Cello Suites 1 & 2, Ray Charles, etc.

GIORGI: I’m listening to lots of Beyoncé, Playboi Carti and Alabama Shakes.

What are you working on musically?

LUTHER: I’m focusing on building my repertoire through both original compositions and learning music from the Great American Songbook.

GIORGI: To be free in the realm of the composer’s world

Do you have a pre-performance routine?

LUTHER: Not necessarily… I do my best to meditate briefly whenever I have the time. I say a quick prayer, and if I’m performing with my band I’ll try to acknowledge everyone and maybe joke around a bit before we go on stage.

GIORGI: No eating, drinking water, searching a mirror to look into my eyes.

What’s the last memorable performance you attended by another musician?

LUTHER: Sullivan Fortner at the Village Vanguard.

GIORGI: Björk in Hamburg. OMG.

Is there something you enjoy when you are not practicing, playing, or traveling?

LUTHER: Of course.  I love playing and watching sports, going to the beach, hiking, and playing video games.

GIORGI: Thrift shopping!!!!

What are you looking forward to in the next six months?

LUTHER: My wife and I just moved into a new place in New Jersey, so I’m looking forward to settling into our new home, decorating the place, making new friends in the area and also going back out on the road with my band in the fall.

GIORGI: I’m looking forward to seeing Beyoncé performing the Cowboy Carter tour in Paris. then Kendrick Lamar and SZA in Cologne, Playing at Rheingau and Lucerne festivals.

Is there a highlight of your year so far, either professional or personal?

LUTHER: Taking breaks! This year has been very demanding but I have also taken more breaks than ever before which has been great for my mental and physical health.

GIORGI: Playing the debut at the Elbphilarmonie Hamburg.
