DEMARRA WEST, Change Agent Consulting

2020 has been an extraordinary year for reflection. As a nation, as individuals, and as families, we’ve been challenged on matters of racial equality, politics, the pandemic, the economy, the environment, and more. Opinions have been shared on social media and thousands have taken to the streets in protests. Clearly, people are struggling to be heard.

Here at The Gilmore, we have been inspired to examine our own organizational culture. Do we truly hear our own community? And how are we responding?

To help us answer these questions, we have engaged Demarra West, principal and lead consultant of Change Agent Consulting, a national consulting practice that was founded in 2007. Over the course of the next several months, Ms. West will conduct an in-depth study of The Gilmore’s culture and practices, including focus groups and a survey of patrons, volunteers, funders, community partners, and parents of our music education participants. The end product of her work will be an assessment of our current position and a plan to give voice to a diverse range of individuals that can impact our operations, concert programming, and community outreach in the years ahead.

The input we receive is truly important if we are to grow in ways that are thoughtful, informed, and inclusive. Many thanks for your assistance and ongoing support of The Gilmore.

Sincerely,

Pierre van der Westhuizen
Director
