The 2026 Gilmore Piano Festival Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
November 20, 2024
Festival Dates: April 30 to May 10, 2026.
Why did The Gilmore change to an annual festival?
The shift to an annual festival allows us to stay more connected with our audiences, supporters, and community. It also brings new opportunities for artistic programming and puts us on par with peer festivals around the world.
What will remain the same?
Many core aspects of the festival will remain unchanged, including:
- Showcasing Gilmore Artists, Bell Jazz Artists, and other pianists from diverse genres.
- Collaborations with key partners such as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Farmers Alley Theatre, Kalamazoo College, Western Michigan University, and other regional institutions.
- Our education programs, such as piano labs, Keysfest, and piano camps, will continue.
What changes can we expect?
Starting in 2026, the festival will be held annually and the duration will be shortened. The concert series will also be folded into the annual festival, and the next festival after 2026 will be in Spring 2027.
When will these changes take place?
The first annual festival will occur from April 30 to May 10, 2026.
Will there be new opportunities?
Yes! For both audiences and artists. The shorter, more frequent Festival allows us to explore a broader range of programming opportunities and enhance our artistic offerings.
