Renée Fleming and Evgeny Kissin to Perform for The Gilmore

July 23, 2019

Legendary soprano Renée Fleming and piano virtuoso Evgeny Kissin will collaborate in a sensational performance for the Gilmore Keyboard Festival next spring. It is the first of just three US appearances the legendary artists will make together; following their Gilmore concert, they will perform in Chicago and New York. The concert will be held April 15, 2020, just prior to the start of the Festival.

The two virtuosos will perform art song works by Schubert, Liszt, Debussy, and Duparc that range from the lush and lovely to the dramatic and powerful. As an added treat, Mr. Kissin will perform solo works for the piano.

Ms. Fleming, who has brought her sumptuous vocals to the world’s most prestigious theaters and stages, is known as “a consummate, generous entertainer” who maintains an easy banter with the audience (artsfile). Pianist Evgeny Kissin holds near-mythical status among critics, audiences, and fellow artists: at the end of a 1997 recital for a wildly appreciative audience of 6,000 at the Royal Albert Hall he played an hour of encores, the longest the venue has experienced in its 100+ year history. Together, Ms. Fleming and Mr. Kissin, making their Gilmore Festival debut, will present an incomparable, once-in-a-lifetime concert.

Donor pre-sale begins on November 3, 2019; tickets for the general public will follow in early January, 2020.
