Due to unforeseen circumstances, 2018 Gilmore Young Artist Elliot Wuu has had to withdraw from his appearance with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra on Friday, May 11, 2018.

Our 2014 Gilmore Young Artist, Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner has agreed to step in for this special performance. “Poetic, electrifying,” “mesmerizing artistry and extraordinary ability to communicate,” “masterful technique,” “exquisite lyricism,” “a gifted virtuoso,” have lauded 21-year-old Sanchez-Werner for performances that have stirred the intellect and humanity of his audiences on five continents. Having just returned from an extensive tour of Europe and Abu Dhabi, this accomplished young pianist will be performing Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto.

In addition to being the 2014 Gilmore Young Artist, Mr. Sanchez-Werner received the Atlantic Council Young Global Citizen Award recognizing his dedication to social action through music in such countries as Iraq, Rwanda, France, Canada, and the United States. General Petraeus commended Mr. Sanchez-Werner’s “courageous humanitarian contributions through the arts…strengthening the ties that unite our nations.”

A graduate of Juilliard, Mr. Sanchez-Werner now studies at the Yale School of Music as the only candidate selected this year to their prestigious Artist Diploma program.
