Adam Schumaker’s Composition Piano Trio No. 1 Selected For Unique Performance

November 29, 2018

Adam Schumaker, Director of Education, will share his work, Piano Trio No. 1, (for piano, violin, and cello) at Pantomime, an ÆPEX Contemporary Performance, with three other composers. A perfect sampling of contemporary music, the event showcases modern diversity.

From ÆPEX:
On November 29, ÆPEX Contemporary Performance returns to Kalamazoo for the third time to share “Pantomime”, an evening of exciting, mysterious, and unique twenty-first century chamber music set in Boatyard Brewing Company’s relaxed and charming brewery space.

Featuring a world class ensemble under the direction of ÆPEX’s esteemed music director, conductor Kevin Fitzgerald, the evening’s program includes music by beloved Kalamazoo-based composers Adam Schumaker and Christopher Biggs, LA-based composer Sarah Gibson, and the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by award-winning composer, and Michigan native, Nina Shekhar.

ÆPEX Contemporary Performance is a nonprofit concert presenting organization dedicated to bringing the music of rarely performed and underrepresented twentieth and twenty-first century composers from around the world to audiences across Michigan. Now in the midst of our fourth season, ÆPEX has presented nineteen performances in Ypsilanti, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Kalamazoo since debuting in December 2015.

Attendees are invited to pay what they can.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Kalamazoo Artistic Development Initiative grant through the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Boatyard Brewing Company, and ÆPEX Contemporary Performance donors.
