A native of Budapest, Palojtay started to play the piano at the age of five. By thirteen he was a student at the Special School for Exceptional Young Talents of the Liszt Academy of Music. He later became a student of both composition and piano at the Béla Bartók Secondary Music School.

In 2004, Palojtay was awarded second prize at the international Chopin Competition in Budapest and the Sári Bíró Memorial Award of the Liszt Academy. Currently, Palojtay is a student of Gilmore Artist Kirill Gerstein at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart. Last year Palojtay won the Gundel Artistic Prize in Budapest which has given him the opporutnity to perform with the Budapest Philharmonic Society.
