After winning the non-competitive Gilmore Young Artist Award in 2012, George Li has made a push on the competition circuit. He took home First Prize at the 2014 Epinal International Piano Competition in addition to Special Schumann and Brahms Prizes and the Audience Prize.

In 2012, he won the Tabor Foundation Piano Award, and in 2014 he received Second Prize at the Vendome Prize. At the 2015 National Chopin Competition, he was awarded Best Sonata Performance as well as Third Prize. Li will compete in the 17th International Chopin Competition in October.

Now, Li progresses from the preliminary round of the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition. His first round performance will take place on Thursday from 8:50 to 9:40 AM, and you can live-stream the performance through the competition’s website.

The competition’s organizers asked George Li a set of questions to give audience members an opportunity to get to know the 19-year-old.
