The Livestream Digital Coordinator is a new, temporary, part-time position that will be responsible for creating digital assets, participating in over 30 livestream productions during the fall 2021 Gilmore Rising Stars concert series and the 2022 Gilmore Piano Festival, and facilitating the chat feature during the livestream events.
About The Gilmore
Created in 1989 to honor the legacy of Irving S. Gilmore, the organization is known for its biennial Gilmore Piano Festival, a three-week celebration of piano music; the Gilmore Awards, a regular series of awards presented to deserving pianists based on a non-competitive process; and commissioning of composers to create new works for the piano. Since 1989, 14 biennial Festivals have been enjoyed by thousands of visitors to west Michigan. Eight Gilmore Artists and 36 Gilmore Young Artists have been recognized, and 35 new works have been created for the piano.
Two distinctive concert series—Piano Masters and Rising Stars—ensure that world-class piano music is presented continually. In addition, a major program dedicated to community engagement and music education touches the lives of thousands of area children and adults by offering neighborhood concerts, piano lessons in elementary schools, music therapy, group lessons for adults, toddler-friendly concert experiences, summer piano camp, master classes, and much more.
History of Livestreaming At The Gilmore
The Gilmore Piano Festival has been livestreaming concerts since 2013. During the 2020-21 Virtual Season, we produced 14 concerts both from Kalamazoo and international locations. The Kalamazoo based events were recorded by a videographer using multiple cameras and an audio engineer with high-end audio equipment to replicate the best possible concert experience. The video is then streamed through Vimeo to our paywall which makes the event accessible through our website. The events that came to us from outside of Kalamazoo were pre-recorded or live and followed the same path of Vimeo-paywall-website. We also streamed two community engagement events that went through the same Vimeo-paywall-website path with the addition of simulcasting through our YouTube and Facebook channels. Depending on individual artists, each event is then available for replay through the website. Selected concerts are also segmented and portions are added to our YouTube channel.
The Livestream Digital Coordinator will be responsible for preparation of video intros and outros for each livestream, as well as the graphic overlays during the presentation. They will also need to prepare event specific chat information for each stream, and manage the chat dialogue during the events.
The Livestream Digital Coordinator will report to both the Livestream Manager and the Director of Marketing.
