More than 50 composers other than Beethoven wrote variations on a theme by 19th century publisher-entrepreneur Anton Diabelli. But it was Beethoven who became obsessed with the tune and who, toward the end of his life, wrote 33 variations on Diabelli’s little waltz. In this recital, pianist Yu-Lien The performs some of the Diabelli Variations written by other composers at the time, including Schubert and the eleven-year-old Liszt.
