In a career spanning five decades, Ran Blake is one of the most revered figures in contemporary music. A MacArthur Foundation Fellow, Blake is a composer, pianist, improviser and New England Conservatory teacher. He first met and became hooked on the music of jazz singer Abbey Lincoln in 1961 while working as a waiter at a New York club where Lincoln was performing.
