This event date has passed.

Distinguished German baritone Matthias Goerne makes his Festival debut with 1998 Gilmore Artist Leif Ove Andsnes, returning for the first time in six years. The formidable pair’s program is an extraordinary combination of the passionate songs of Mahler along with Shostakovich’s settings of the poetry of Michelangelo, one of his late works (1975) in which “Mahler keeps appearing from behind the mask of Mussorgsky.” Andsnes and Goerne will take this program to Carnegie Hall the following week, but we are fortunate to hear it here first!
