We’re lucky to host 2014 Gilmore Young Artist Andrew Hsuin our Rising Stars Series this season; the young pianist and composer keeps busy while pursuing his master of music degree at The Juilliard School in New York. Hsu is currently working on new commissions for mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and harpist Abigail Kent. He’ll perform as a Protégé Artist at Chamber Music Northwest next summer as well the 2017 Marlboro Music Festival.
And if you haven’t heard, his younger brother Daniel was named one of The Gilmore’s 2016 GYAs and is scheduled to perform at next year’s Festival in Kalamazoo, Vicksburg, Marshall and East Lansing.
Andrew’s acclaimed compositions have been performed across the United States. Hear “frostfallen” below, and watch him perform a program of Mozart, Brahms, Pintscher and Beethoven on Dec. 6.
